ZHANG Huailin










Mr. Zhang Huailin was born in China’s Anhui Province in 1947 and has pursued art from an early age which has included the study of oil painting at the Beijing Central Academy of Fine Art. His work is marked by his passion for travel combined with his love of history and folk culture which he transmits to his canvases. His work been exhibited in solo exhibitions in Singapore (1995) and the United States (2002) and in national exhibitions in China such as the Eight National Art Exhibition, the Third Exhibition of Chinese Oil Paintings, the Ninth National Exhibition of Prints and the First National Art Exhibition on Popular Science (in which he won the silver prize). His works have been collected by Chiba Gallery of Japan, VIP Gallery of Canada as well as other institutes and individuals. A retrospective of his paintings has been published in Selected Paintings of Zhang Huailin and Yang Hongwei and may be found in various periodicals in China such as Fine Art, Chinese Art Digest and Art Life. He is the retired deputy director and deputy general editor of the Fujian Arts Publishing House were he wrote and published more than ten books on art including: A Brief Handbook of World Art History, A Brief Handbook of Chinese Art History, Chinese Line Drawing and Chinese Watermark Prints.
